Meet our newest Welding Engineer (CIWE/CEWE) - Stephen Carr
Today we would like to officially introduce Stephen Carr as our new Welding Engineer here at The Welding Development Centre.
Stephen has taken some time out of his busy schedule to sit down with us and take part in a Q&A session.
Lets get to know Stephen!
Q - Firstly, welcome to the team Stephen. Can we start by you telling us a little bit about your background and experiences in the industry?
A - I am an experienced and highly qualified Welding Engineer, with extensive knowledge of various Welding Codes of Practice. I am qualified at a Certified International and European Welding Engineer Level and I am also an Incorporated Engineer and member of The Welding Institute.
Some of my previous roles include, Welding Engineer, Quality Supervisor and Quality/Welding Manager, working within the Pressure Vessel, Aerospace and Oil & Gas industries.
Q - What is your new role at The WDC and what will your day to day activities involve?
A - My role as a Welding Engineer at The WDC includes performing, compiling, and writing Weld Procedures to various codes, utilising materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex, super duplex, Inconel 625 and Aluminium. Additionally, I am also responsible for auditing current welding documentation and welding systems, compiling gap analysis' to achieve quality welding requirements to standards ISO3834-2 and EN1090, together with Responsible Welding Co-ordinator Consultancy.
Q - What are your goals and objectives in this new role?
A - Some of my main goals in this new role will be to develop and grow the business even further, support the team with my knowledge and past experiences, as well as expand my own personal development. I am always looking to increase my expertise and I believe The WDC will be the perfect place to do that.
Q - In your opinion, what do you believe you can bring to this role and to The WDC?
A - I bring to The WDC over 40 year's experience and welding knowledge which covers a wide range of engineering disciplines. I am accustomed to working to the highest standards of quality, with a strong work ethic and the ability to resolve technical problems and issues. I aim to bring this to The WDC.
Q - In your own words, what are your first initial thoughts of The WDC and what do you see the future looking like?
A - Throughout my career I have gained extensive experience and knowledge in Quality Assurance and welding, which I am delighted to bring to the company. My passion is for welding and this together with my qualifications, I believe will strengthen an already experienced and dedicated team. The need for welding expertise in the industry is evident and The WDC is aligned to support our customers needs. I am excited to be a part of this evolving future with The WDC
