Due to an increase in demand for our services, The WDC has recently made some new additions to the team. One of which being Brian Cowell, who joined us earlier this month as our NDT Manager. This blog discusses Brian’s past experiences and how they have shaped him to become a highly skilled and qualified NDT Manager, as well as a bit more about his role here at The WDC and how he can help maximise our growth and expand our NDT division.

Brian brings with him over 20 years of experience in the Quality Control and Inspection Industry, starting out as a NDT Leader at Forge Fabrications and successfully completing other NDT roles for various different companies over a period of 5 years. In 2008, Brian became a NDT Project Lead at Aker Solutions in Norway and continued his work in the country for various different companies including Oceaneering and Kiwa-Inspecta up until 2017.

During his time in Norway, Brian’s roles included; NDT Technician, Welding Inspector, Project Supervisor, Project Coordinator and Vendor Inspector for some of the world biggest engineering companies and projects.

More recently, Brian worked for Smythy Consultants in Cumbria, UK where he undertook welding inspection and visual magnetic particle testing of water pipelines, as well as valve and pump inspections.

As you can see, Brian brings with him extensive experience, knowledge and skills, and we are so excited to see what he can achieve here at The Welding Development Centre as our NDT Manager.

Brian’s role here at The WDC, as our NDT Manager, consists of establishing and growing the companies NDT division by researching and identifying potential new clients and maintaining contacts within a live and active sales pipeline. Brian will oversee the daily operations of the NDT functions, ensuring that all the correct policies and procedures are followed, as well as play a key role in ensuring systems and people perform their function effectively. Furthermore, Brian will play a vital role in applying an effective management strategy whilst building and maintaining strong relationships with clients.

Brian had this to say about his new role here at The Welding Development Centre;

I am delighted to be joining such a focussed and expert team here at The WDC, and I am excited to bring my own knowledge, skills and expertise in NDT to the company. I am looking to hit the ground running and help grow the companies NDT division using my vast array of contacts from my previous experiences in the industry. It is an exciting time here at The WDC, with the arrival of several new faces thanks to our rapid growth, and I am thrilled to now be a part of this growing company”.
